We Choose to Renew!

We Choose to Renew!

Romans 10:9:
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved
[born again].

When a man, woman, or young person confesses Jesus as lord and believes in their heart that God raised him from the dead, that person is born again. At that moment he or she receives the gift of holy spirit with its inherent, potential power. The key to manifesting this power of God’s spirit is to put on God’s Word in our mind.

Romans 12:2:
And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what
is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

To renew one’s mind is to put God’s Word in mind and act accordingly. This is how we transform our lives to prove God’s good and acceptable and perfect will. This is how we manifest God’s power in our lives. Every born-again believer has this ability.

We are not to be conformed to this world. This world, or age, refers to the thoughts and pursuits of this present time, the passing fashions, practices, and maxims of the world. Our adversary, the Devil, is the god of this world, the god of this age (II Corinthians 4:4). He endeavors to distract the believer from God’s presence, power, and truth. But our all-knowing and all-powerful heavenly Father has given the born-again believers a way to defeat this distraction. When believers choose to renew their mind to the Word, this holy spirit power is energized within them, making them victors—overcomers—in any situation.

I John 4:4:
Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

Renewing the mind is the personal responsibility of each individual believer. It is up to each of us to decide to put God’s Word in mind and act accordingly. Nobody else can do it for us. We have the joy of rekindling our love and excitement for God’s Word on a daily basis.

These truths in Psalm 119 show us our personal responsibility in choosing to put on God’s Word. Notice all the I’s.

Psalms 119:11:
Thy word have I hid in mine heart….

Psalms 119:30:
I have chosen the way of truth….

Psalms 119:162:
I rejoice at thy word, as one that findeth great spoil.

Psalms 119:60:
I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.

Psalms 119:112:
I have inclined mine heart to perform thy statutes alway….

Each day and each moment of the day we can renew our mind by putting God’s Word in our mind and acting accordingly. When we do this, we can bring God’s power into manifestation in our lives. The decision remains with us—to be conformed to and distracted by the thoughts and pursuits of this present age as orchestrated by the god of this world OR to renew our mind by thinking and acting according to the Word of God, enabling us to manifest power. We choose to renew!
