Bearing Burdens by Speaking in Tongues

Bearing Burdens by Speaking in Tongues

Galatians 6:2:
Bear ye one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ.

The Word of God exhorts us to bear each other’s burdens. How far does this exhortation extend? I might see and assist someone who needs help carrying groceries, or perhaps I can help a motorist with a flat tire—but what about the burdens I see on the news or read about on the Internet? Do I need to travel across the country to meet those needs, or fly to another country to bear those burdens, too? Am I responsible for every burden I know about? Am I responsible to find out about needs I don’t know about?

Perhaps you’ve felt this way. With all the information available at our fingertips, perhaps you’ve felt this way more often than you’d like. You’ll be blessed to know that there’s good news! For born-again believers, when we received the gift of God’s holy spirit, we gained the ability to speak in tongues. By operating this manifestation of power, we can effectively bear burdens and make intercession with perfect prayer. We don’t have to personally handle every need in the world that we know about in order to make a difference—God has equipped His born-again believers to be effective in any situation, at any time, anywhere!

The first thing we can remember if we begin to feel overwhelmed is that God knows everything, so we can take a deep breath and relax. God does not expect us to keep track of every need around the world. That’s His job. When we pray, we can rest easy in the knowledge that God, Who is all-knowing and all-powerful and everywhere present, is a God of peace and comfort and goodness. His wisdom reflects that nature.

James 3:17:
But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy.

This is the wisdom of our God. He knows everything, can do anything, and He exists everywhere and at all times. His wisdom will always bear good fruit. He is never selfish and He is never biased. We can find great comfort in knowing that God knows all the details.

God gave us a way to pray perfectly, even when we don’t have all the facts; He gave us the ability to speak in tongues. This is a powerful way we can effectively bear burdens from around the world.

Romans 8:26,27:
Likewise the Spirit
[God] also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit [the gift of holy spirit in manifestation] itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what
is the mind of the Spirit [the gift in manifestation], because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.

Our infirmity is that we don’t always know what to pray for; we don’t always know what a situation needs. You know what, though? That’s OK. God’s got it covered. He gave us the ability to pray in the spirit, which is speaking in tongues (I Corinthians 14:15). When we choose to speak in tongues, the spirit God gave us makes intercession, and we can pray perfectly. To intercede is to intervene between two parties. We can think of this as making a request to God in behalf of someone else. This intercession for the saints is according to the will of God, and as we saw in James, there is no will better than His!

Remember this the next time you hear of a situation that could use some intercession. As a born-again believer, you have the ability to make a difference. God’s holy spirit within you makes you qualified and able to effectively intercede when you pray perfectly. When you do so, you’re getting God involved. He knows every situation. He knows every need. He knows the best solution. You can operate God’s holy spirit power. You can bear burdens by speaking in tongues!
