The Way Corps Class of 2021: Shining Forth in Service

The Fiftieth Way Corps graduated on July 18, 2021. This group of students has put their whole heart, soul, mind, and strength into further developing themselves as able ministers of the Lord Jesus Christ. They participated in a four-year training program designed to help them accomplish this goal, with two of those years spent in residence at The Way International Headquarters. This program helps students understand and grow in Biblical qualities of leaders and workers so that they can shine forth in their service to the household of God. Personal, individual growth is accomplished through specific aspects of the training such as classroom time, physical training, financial stewardship training, and much more. You can read below about some aspects of their training and enjoy quotes from the graduates about how they saw themselves grow and develop as a result of the training.

Study Hall
As a part of their training, students spend time utilizing Biblical research materials in dedicated study halls. This focused time of study helps students to increase their skills as students and workmen of God’s Word.

“I am able to utilize ministry material and other research sources to understand better God’s Word and communicate it to others in a clear way.”

Classroom Time
Trainees spend many hours in the classroom learning more about God’s Word and how to practically apply it in daily living. Topics currently taught in the training include Old Testament and Early Church History, Introduction to New Testament Greek, Witnessing and Undershepherding, and much, much more.

“My classroom time has helped me see more clearly than ever how the Word fits together. I have grown in my scope of the Scriptures and in my ability to search out answers for myself. I’ve been given tangible tools to aid me in my personal study of the Word, and also a wealth of background knowledge and connections between concepts, that help me better understand God’s heart and the beauty and perfection of what He wanted communicated to His family. This knowledge allows me to better minister to others.”

The Way Corps Garden
Another aspect of the training is The Way Corps garden. Trainees grow in stewardship principles as they plant, care for the garden, and harvest the fruit of their labor.

I Corinthians 3:6:
I have planted, Apollos watered; but God gave the increase.

Research Papers
As a part of their training, students are required to complete a Biblical research paper on a topic that is of interest to them. They work in conjunction with their trainers to put together a product that they will draw from for years to come in their service as ministers to God’s people.

“Working on my research paper has helped me to put my training in the utilization of research materials to practical use. The depth and simplicity of God’s Word has opened up to me like never before.”

Physical Fitness
Students participate in fitness training, which helps them be as vital as possible in order to serve God’s people. Students develop faithfulness in this aspect of life and learn Biblical principles associated with stewardship of their physical bodies. The focus of physical training is to build strength for giving to others at a greater level.

I Corinthians 9:27:
But I keep under my body, and bring
it into subjection: lest that by any means, when I have preached to others, I myself should be a castaway.

Public Speaking Training
Students learn public speaking principles and practice this skill in a variety of settings, which helps them to be both more effective teachers of God’s Word as well as more confident and capable communicators in front of others.

“Repetition. Public speaking training has given me the reps (practice) I needed to be confident in God’s ability in me as a spokesman for God.”

Household Responsibilities
As ministers to God’s people, trainees take time to further learn the value of giving themselves in service. This principle is partially taught through household responsibilities, where students give in different capacities to help steward the facilities they live and learn in, meet needs in various assignments, and take care of one another in the household through daily and weekly tasks.

Mark 9:35:
And he sat down, and called the twelve, and saith unto them, If any man desire to be first,
the same shall be last of all, and servant of all.
