For the 2020–2021 ministry year, our focus as a worldwide ministry will be Shining as Lights in the World.
This past ministry year, we have gained a deeper understanding of what it looks like to walk worthy of, in a manner of equal value with, our calling as sons of God. We looked at and comprehended the greatness of what God has given us and made us to be in Christ, and what we can do as sons of God. And by knowing and living these wonderful truths concerning our sonship, we are able to walk powerfully and victoriously. This ministry year, we will focus on recognizing how we as sons of God shine as lights in this world because of the spirit of God we have and because of the Word of God we know.
That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation [generation or age], among whom ye shine as lights in the world;
Holding forth the word of life….
God is light (I John 1:5); Jesus Christ is the light (John 8:12); and because we have the spirit of God in us, we are light too (Ephesians 5:8)! God’s Word, the knowledge of the glory of God, is also light.
II Corinthians 4:6:
For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.
Because God has shined in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God, we walk so that the light of the glory of God in us can be seen by others. And as we give that light of the knowledge of the glory of God to others—to our friends, to our loved ones, and to everyone else with whom we come in contact—that light will spread.
If there is anything the world needs today, it is the Word of God. People need the Word. Without it, man’s real, basic need cannot be met. Only God’s Word truly satisfies.
God has called us to radiate His light and the light of His Word across the world. Wherever we are—anywhere around the globe—with God in Christ in us, we are reflecting God’s light.
As we study the Word together this year, we will see that we are light givers who shine in the spiritual darkness of the world because of the spirit of God within us and because of the rightly divided Word of God that we know. Spiritually, we have so much to offer as we shine as lights in the world!
